How to decorate a small living room

The living room is one of the most important rooms in our house, as it is the place where most often, hence the name!. Most living rooms need to be multifunctional and have enough space to fit the whole family comfortably and companies. This is easy if you have a large room. However, you do not count a spacious living room, especially if you live in an apartment or condominium. Luckily, there are some tricks you can do to decorate a small living room that will make it appear larger.

Instructions

1
Choose the right paint color. The paint colors can transform the room dramatically. Small rooms should be painted with cool tones like gray, blue or green. Grey is a great neutral color and looks great in living rooms, and matching with any color scheme. You can paint the ceiling a shade lighter than the color of the walls to make the room look taller and airy.

2
Hang curtains near the ceiling. Opt for shades that extend to the ground, and hang above the top of the window. Four to six inches is a good height above. Curtains that fall from the ceiling to the floor create the illusion of height and space in a small room.
3
Choose the right seats. Most companies manufacture furniture for condo size sofas (some call them “apartment sofa”). It uses a combination of a flat couch and chair, or recliner. Two apartment sofas facing each other with a coffee table in between also can look good. Consider armchairs or chairs without armrests. They will make the space feel more open. Also, be sure not to have too much furniture as this will only give you a messy look to the room and make you feel very messy.

4
Choose dual-function furniture. An ottoman or a coffee table with hidden storage is a great idea to hide stacks of DVDs. An entertainment cabinet with bookcases included lets you display some treasures decorative , no need to introduce a library independently in a small space.

5
Create a focal point throughout. Using a long element seems contrary to the decoration of a small place, but it will give a touch of style without feeling crowded. Place a large piece of art is far better to place several small pieces, which will only serve to create a sense of disorder.

6
Using mirrors. Mirrors open space and reflect light, causing the room look wider. Put a large mirror above the sofa, or opposite a window to catch the light. You can also put several small mirrors together to create the feel of a long mirror.
