Step1: Confirm You Have The Right LG Filter Model

Step 2: Locate Where your LG Water Filter is Placed
Before going ahead to install your filter replacement, you’ll need to identify the location of your fridge’s water filter; LG fridges have different water filter locations. It can either be at the;
- Upper right corner shelf
- Horizontally on the ceiling
- Vertically on the ceiling

Step 3: Remove your Old Water Filter
Depending on your fridge model, you’ll either pull or push on a tab or button to disengage and remove the filter compartment lid. Tip; always consult your manual if you’re unsure of the location.
After locating your old water filter, turn anticlockwise to disengage and remove it. Remember to turn off the water supply before this step.
Step 4: Install your New LG Water Filter
Unpack your new filter, make sure the seal isn’t damaged, locate the filter head, and pull off its cap. Position the filter in that the top tabs are horizontal to make it easy screwing it in. Rotate the filter in a clockwise quarter turn until it fits to activate the valve inside the fridge.

How to Know your Water Filter Needs Replacing
After a filter replacement, you should be on the lookout for some factors that will alert you before when a water filter requires a replacement. Some of the factors are discussed below.
Refrigerator water filters have a life span that is measured by the amount of water it has filtered. Most LG water filters are supposed to be replaced after filtering 200 gallons (750L) of water. LG filter type LT 500P may filter up to 500 gallons before replacement. Although the estimated time frame for replacement is 6 months, some should be replaced sooner depending on certain factors like;
- Water type, hard water will clog the filter faster than soft water.
- Your family size will determine your usage rate, a more than average number will use more water.
