Captain beds provide storage space under the mattress with the addition of drawers, preventing you should keep things under the bed, mixing with dust bunnies and other things. Build your own captain bed will save you money and allow you to spice up your old dressers. Use drawers robust triples that can withstand the weight of all those who sleep in the bed to have a good rest.
Arrange two comfortable robust triple their backs and drawers facing out to form the base of the bed. Leave a space of 3 inches (7.62 cm) between them. Aligns with the upper parts of a foam filling 1/2 inch (1.27 cm) thick.
Cut two plywood plates 3/4 inch (19 mm) with a table saw so you have two pieces of 40 x 60 inches (1.01 x 1.52 m) each. Cut a furring strip 76 inches (1.93 m) long. Repeat to cut the two remaining furring strips with the same length.
Arrange two plywood boards so that they are inserted together with side edges abutting. Boards should measure 80 x 60 inches (2.03 x 1.52 m).
Place the furring strips lengthwise on plywood plates, one on each side and one through the center. Leave a 2 inch (5.08 cm) between the strips and the edges of the plates. Strips attached to wood using wood screws 1 and 1/2 inch (2.54 and 1.27 cm).
Cut two furring strips 56 inches (1.42 m) long. Spin one for your side of an inch (2.54 cm) rests on the plywood, and put you placed perpendicular to the above to form a box. Repeat with another strip on the opposite side. Secure them with wood screws.
It stains the wooden box to achieve the desired finish. Use adhesive tape edging on the edges of the timber to achieve the final look.
Put the plywood box on the furniture so that the furring strips pass in between the two, turning the slats work to go through the bottom of the plywood. Place a full size mattress on the wood.
