However, you can not count on a spacious living room, especially if you live in an apartment or condo. Luckily, there are some tricks you can do to decorate a small living room that will make it appear larger.
Choose the right color paint. The paint colors can transform a room dramatically. Small rooms should be painted with cool tones such as gray, blue or green. The gray is a great neutral color and looks great in living rooms, and matching with any scheme of colors . You can paint the ceiling a shade lighter than the color of the walls to make the room look taller and airy.
Hang curtains near the ceiling. Chooses curtains that extend to the floor, and hang above the top of the window. Four to six inches above is a good height. Curtains that fall from the ceiling to the floor create the illusion of height and space in a small room.
Choose the right seats. Most companies manufacture furniture for condo size sofas (some call them “sofas apartment “). It uses a combination of a sofa apartment and chair, or recliner. Two sofas apartment facing each other with a coffee table in between can also look good. Consider armchairs or chairs without armrests. They will make the space feel more open they. Also, make sure not to have too much furniture as this will only give a cluttered look to the room and make you feel very messy.
Choose furniture dual function. An ottoman or a coffee table with hidden storage is a great idea to hide stacks of DVDs. An entertainment cabinet with bookshelves are included allow you to display some decorative treasures, without introducing an independent library in a small space.
Create a long focal point. The use of a long element seems contrary to decorate a small place, but it will give a touch of style without feeling crowded. Place a large piece of art is much better to place several small pieces, which will only serve to create a sense of disorder.
Using mirrors. Mirrors open up a space and reflect light, making the room appear wider. Put a large mirror over the sofa or in opposite to a window to catch the light side. You can also put several small mirrors together to create the feel of a long mirror.
